Zoology is the scientific study of all aspects of animal life that include Evolution, Paleontology, Ecology, Developmental Biology, Genetics, Ecology, Physiology, Parasitology, Microbiology, Economic Zoology, Zoogeography, Entomology, Fisheries, Wild Life and Freshwater Biology. The study of Zoology can play significant role in alleviation of poverty, food security, development of human resources, sustainable development, and conservation of environment. This discipline emphasis on the protection, conservation and proper management of animal fauna, therefore a career in it makes the graduates eco-friendly.
University of Malakand started M.sc Zoology two-year Program in 2010 and BS Zoology Four Year Program in 2011. The Department of Zoology is now starting M.Phil. and PhD programs in Fall 2020. The Department of Zoology has been housed in the recently constructed Scientific Block and is Provided with will furnish classrooms and laboratories.The department possesses sufficient full-time faculty members with PhD qualification.
