Introduction

Chemistry plays an integral role in today's scientific endeavors. As science has become increasingly interdisciplinary, fundamental scientific problems still focus on the chemical nature of matter. The faculty and staff of the Department of Chemistry, University of Malakand provide an environment where the students at all levels can explore, discover, and learn chemistry through coursework and research. The Department of Chemistry maintains pedagogical and research strengths in the field of organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, and nanochemistry.

Objectives

  • To facilitate effective teaching and learning at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels and conduct relevant research in all areas of chemical sciences.
  • To help students acquire skills necessary to maintain scientific equipment and to run laboratory experiments efficiently.
  • To develop the independence and discretional judgement of students by enabling them to do independent research projects and preparing them for higher studies.
  • To establish links with other tertiary institutions for collaboration and exchange of information.

Vision Of The Program

Department of Chemistry aims to be a center of excellence disseminating state-of-the-art knowledge and skills in Chemistry for exploration of natural resources, environmental analysis and conservation and tackling health issues, to meet local and global challenges.

Mission Of The Program

The Department of Chemistry produces skilled and responsible graduates through high standards of teaching, research and innovation contributing to the socio-economic development leading to a peaceful and prosperous society.

About Degree Programs

Chemistry plays an integral role in today's scientific endeavours. As science has become increasingly interdisciplinary, fundamental scientific problems still focus on the chemical nature of matter. Department of Chemistry, University of Malakand provides an environment where the students at undergraduate and post graduate levels of studies can explore, discover, and learn about the chemical nature of the universe. The Department of Chemistry maintains pedagogical and research strengths in the field of organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, and Nano chemistry. The department has research based BS, M.Sc and M.Phil/PhD degrees programs. Presently, the Department of Chemistry has Twelve (12) doctoral faculty members and more than 400 students. The department offers outstanding opportunities for the students to explore the exciting world of chemistry and develop communication and problem-solving skills needed for success in their careers and personal growth. The students are encouraged to enrich their educational experiences beyond the classroom by engaging in research projects with faculty.
