BOTANIC GARDEN/HERBARIUM AND RESEARCH CENTER

The university's Botanical Garden and Herbarium was established at a cost of about 38 million PKR by HEC. The building was completed in 2009 with seven offices for researchers, two museum halls, a library (with more than 2000 books), a lecture theatre and taxonomic laboratory. A diverse collection of flowering plants, conifers, ferns, mosses, algae and fungi of about 500 specimens have been preserved for research purposes. The Herbarium is used as a research, training and service providing institution. It serves as reference center, data store house, library, documentation facility, systematic research and taxonomic laboratory for the students and researchers of Botany department. The Botanical Garden has been provided with infrastructure facilities of pond, two lath houses, water supply scheme, sprinkle irrigation system, lighting system, water tank, fountains, boundary wall and walkways. The landscaping of the garden has been completed along-with the establishment of Green House, which are facilitating research students throughout the Country.

In addition, the botanical garden also provides amenity services, serenity and lawns for ceremonial purposes. The garden is also registered with Botanical Garden Conservation International (BGCI) at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew UK.
